Happenings @ Faith

This Sunday…

Make any New Year’s resolutions?  Did they involve growing more in the Lord?  Then join us this week for Life Group Sunday as Pastor Larry shares with us a message entitled “Community in the New Year.”  Services are at 8:45 and 10:30 AM. 

 

And be sure to join us for our “in-between” time at 10:00, featuring coffee, a ton of baked goods, and a wonderful opportunity to get to know other members of Faith.  Hope to see you there.

1/15/2009  Digging Deep: Topics in Christian Theology

Join Pastor Larry for a 12 week detailed study of topics such as: God’s Character, Creation, Nature of Scripture, Sin, Process of Salvation, The Church, Ministry of the Spirit, Future Things, etc.  This study begins Jan. 15th and goes through April 2nd.  Please sign up in the foyer for this course before Jan. 4th if you plan to attend as we need to order books for each participant.  The cost is $10.00.

 

 

1/16/2009  Men’s Bowling.  This new monthly men’s ministry event is all about getting to know each other and having good clean fun & fellowship.  The cost will be between $5.00-10.00 and includes bowling and food.  Males 16 & older are invited and you’re more than welcome to bring a friend.  Contact Rick Rehm at 687-5805 if you have any questions.

1/23-25/2009  Men’s Retreat at Wood Lake Bible Camp

Enjoy chapel sessions, broomball & sledding, cross-country skiing, special activities, game room, good fellowship & delicious meals.  Cost:  $85 before 1/12; $95 after 1/12.  Contact Pastor Paul for more information.

Life Groups

 

Life Groups: 

Do you want to connect with other believers and build relationships as you study God’s Word? If so, then Life Groups are for you.  We meet in different homes throughout the week to study, pray, fellowship, serve God and grow in Christ. Come be a part of one of these groups!

Annual Meeting

 

 

1/10/2009  Annual Meeting & Town Hall Meeting. 

While celebrating what the Lord has done in our midst the past 12 months, the Annual Meeting will also address important business such as:  affirmation of our annual budget, new board members, and an update on our building program.  A Town Hall Meeting will be held prior to the Annual Mtg. for you to ask any questions you may have regarding our building program.  If you can’t make the Town Hall Mtg. on Sat., an alternate time will be offered on Sun. Jan. 11th from 12:15-1:00 pm.  Church members who cannot make the meeting can pick up an absentee ballot at the church office prior to Fri., Jan. 9th.  Please sign-up (on the sheet in the foyer) for the potluck dinner between the two meetings on Saturday.

Building Project Survey

Office Closed for New Years

 

The Church office will be closed December 31st at 1pm through New Years Day, reopening on Friday morning, January 2nd.  Pastor Paul is on call this week so in case of Pastoral emergencies please contact him at home at 715-305-5871.  This is a new number for Paul so please update your phone lists with this new phone number.

We are done taking pictures for the Directory; we are a little behind in the production of the books.  They will be available after the New Year.

 

 

Volunteer Needs

 

The LOFT

We are looking for many volunteers to assist with the LOFT construction project in the next weeks.  Please consider volunteering to assist with the huge project.  All hands on deck are needed.  Contact Glenn Ferris at 305-5937 if you can help.  This week they will be hanging the wood that will go on the walls.    If you can help, please sign up in the church foyer or give us a call.  We will need workers, food for the workers and prayer. 

 

The Coffee Fellowship Ministry that provides the goodies that are enjoyed between services each Sunday needs a few more volunteers!  Helping involves making coffee; setting up the serving of the coffee, cookies & juice; replenishing supplies; and cleaning up afterwards.  Please contact Frances Bohon at mamabohon@hotmail.com if you’re interested in assisting in this ministry that helps us connect with one another for fellowship!

Family Information

 

In the Church foyer you will find three different 2009 Bible Reading Plans from Discipleship Journal.  Please feel free to take one that best suits your style of reading and keep on keeping in the word in 2009!

 

Year End Contributions:  According to IRS regulations, all year end gifts must be postmarked or left at the church office no later than 1:00 pm on Weds. Dec. 31st, in order to be credited for 2008.  Thank you for your attention to this detail!

 

A Big Thank You!!

Pastor Larry and Paul would like to send you all a huge thank you for the wonderful Christmas gifts that were given to us on Christmas Eve during the candlelight service.  We are both so thankful and blessed to be called as Pastors of this church.  It truly is a privilege to minister to such a great congregation.

Women’s Book Club

We are currently reading Mother Teresa's private writings and will be discussing our current book in January.  We meet on a Saturday at 9Am and discuss for about an hour and a half.  We have been meeting at one of the local restaurants.  The group selects its next read when we finish and discuss a book.  We also decide how long we want to have to read the book.  Please contact Cynthia Jurishica if interested at cjurishica@verizon.net or 715 387 8571

 

The Immanuel Lutheran Church: Men’s Ministry, Men@Immanuel, will be hosting author and speaker Bruce Van Natta at Immanuel on Sunday, January 25th at 4:30pm.  Tickets for the evening are $5.00 and also include a meal.  Tickets are available January 2nd by contacting Tom Kongslein during the day at 715-384-8755 or Rich Abel at night at 715-207-5422.
